Boston University Academy

Mentor

July 2022

During the summer of 2022, I worked with Sitarah Lakanhi (BUA '22) to install a mural she created for her high school. I mentored Sitarah and a variety of volunteers throughout the install process. Sitarah specific learned several methods for install including a doodle grid. She even learned how to drive a 40-foot aerial boom lift. Read more about our work together and the mural here.

HULL ART WALK & GARDEN

Project Manager

January-August 2019

As a consultant for the City of Hull and ArtWalk property owner, I acted as a project manager and advisor for their joint venture Hull Art Walk & Garden. Our goal was to innovatively connects two key commercial corridors while championing local artists. Before revitalization, the area was an overgrown, abandoned pedestrian walkway and parking lot off Nantasket Avenue. Together we transformed the space into a multi-faceted public art installation that now connects two key commercial corridors. Coming off of  Nantasket Avenue, a raised garden gives way to nine large murals—eight on large wooden panels and one on the side of a building. In September, 2019, the Hull Economic Development Committee and the Board of Selectmen hosted a ceremonial opening of the Walk and Garden.

BEYOND WALLS LYNN

Founding Member & Associate Director

January 2017-July 2018

Beyond Walls' mission is to activate underused space to strengthen communities. Beyond Walls began as a grassroots effort to address pressing civic issues in downtown Lynn, Massachusetts. Originally, Beyond Walls was founded to ensure that residents’ concerns and visions were at the center of the City’s continued development. Together we worked to dispel the historic narratives that surround Lynn while also working to champion the voice, integrity, and pride of Lynn’s residents.

While at Beyond Walls, I oversaw the organization's operations and fundraising. My main responsibilities also included the design, organization, and management of our signature Mural Festival. For two seasons, I worked to bring together international, regional, and local artists to build community and celebrate Lynn.

During this time, Beyond Walls won numerous grants from supporters such as the Barr Foundation, MassDevelopment, Enterprise Community Partners,  Patronicity, and Santander. Other projects included: the installation of lighting under three MBTA underpasses and the installation of over a dozen vintage neon pieces around Lynn. Several stakeholders were involved including: community volunteers and residents, the City of Lynn, the Barr Foundation, Mass Development, DC35, Raw Art Works, Lynn Arts, the Lynn Museum, local business and property owners. In 2017, Beyond Walls won the Gateway Cities Award from MassInc.

NORTHAMPTON DRAWS

Assistant to the Executive Director

July 2012

While working at the Northampton Center for the Arts, I developed and produced a free drawing festival in various locations around Northampton's downtown. With a cohort of teaching artists, and a dedicated group of volunteers, we celebrated art-making with ~250+ people. The Festival encouraged participants to try new forms of mark-making using alternative materials—anything from embroidery string to tape.
